Plot renewals are due!

Hello gardeners! It's been a roller coaster first year of community gardening in Oakley, but looking around the gardens makes it all worthwhile! I'm so impressed at all you've accomplished!

The time has come to renew our memberships for the new 2015-2016 gardening year. To that end, the Gardener's Code of Conduct has been revised and published at www.tinyurl.com/oakleygardenscode . All returning plotholders will need to read, approve, and sign the new version of the code. A copy of the signature page should be given, along with the appropriate fees, to our Garden Coordinator, Shawn Horrocks. (We can accept either cash or checks made payable to 'Slow Food Delta-Diablo')

Renewals are due by August 31st. On September 1st a $10 late fee will be added to the membership fees. If we don't have your paperwork and fees by Noon on September 15, the next person on the waiting list will receive your plot.

For our readers who are not yet plotholders, if you'd like to put your name on the waiting list, you can email oakleycommunitygardens@gmail.com (also please sign up for our mailing list if you haven't already).

“Community gardens have the potential to foster a sense of community identity, ownership and stewardship.  They can provide a place for people of diverse backgrounds to interact, share cultural traditions and exchange knowledge related to gardening, cooking, nutrition and health. I find gardening a great way to level the stress in life, ripping weeds out of the ground can be a cathartic experience.”

- Mayor Kevin Romick.

"The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature. To nurture a garden is to feed not just the body, but the soul".

— Alfred Austin
